CandyLand - March 2022

Company members performed main roles from the ballet CandyLand.

On March 15 & 16, 2022, Ballet Etudes performed a fun and fruity ballet, Candyland, at the Huntington Beach Library Theater. Based on the beloved board game, Candyland delighted audience members young and old. As part of our community outreach program, Ballet Etudes performs three times per year for the benefit of the Friends of the Children’s Library. This was one such performance.

Petite Performing Group as the Peppermint Forest

Ballet Etudes company members performed in lead roles and our Performing Groups performed in roles such as Game Cards, Gumdrops, Peppermint Forest, Plums, Lady Licorice’s Bats, Peanut Brittle, Gingerbread, Rainbows, Lollipops, Frosty Waves, Rainbow Sherbet, Licorice Forest, Chocolate Swamp and Candy Celebration.

Grace Wendl played Jane, the young girl who is pulled in to play the game. There she meets Queen Candy, played by Ella Glenn, who is kidnapped by the evil Lord Licorice, played by Haylee Vujicic. Queen Candy’s two beautiful daughters, Princess Lolly, played by Sarah Hom, and Princess Frostine, played by Julie Kurimoto, go on a quest to save their mother. Along the way, they meet Ms. Mint, played by Grace Hager; Grandma Nut, played by Sarah Beyer; Plumpy, played by Rachel Jaskowiak; Gloppy, played by Isabella Long and Jolly, played by Sami Summers. Eventually, Jane and the Princesses find Queen Candy in Lady Licorice’s lair and free her to save the day.
